In every grant cycle, there are more requests for funds than are available. However, in the first decade of the Arts Fund, over $2 million dollars have been invested in the community through individual artists and arts organizations.
The Regional Municipality of Waterloo currently allocates a per capita amount of 40 cents to the Arts Fund annually.
According to the data compiled from Final Review Reports, this funding investment has had a positive impact on the whole community by attracting further grants, sponsorships, sales revenue, etc. and has stimulated business activity related to or in the vicinity of arts events.
Applicants may request as much funding as needed to "make art happen"; there is no requirement of a minimum or maximum amount of funding. However, the Arts Fund allocates its limited annual budget to address needs across the entire Region and in all disciplines. The intention is to provide meaningful grants, though not typically operating or capital grants.
